In Loving Memory of Delbert J. Malloy



Life Legacy


Delbert Malloy was born October 3, 1925 and died March 5, 2010. Delbert was the son of Audrey McGee Malloy and James Henry Malloy and was born in Canyonville, Oregon. The family moved to Nyssa Oregon in 1936 to homestead a farm in rural Nyssa. Delbert graduated from Nyssa High.

He served his country in World War II in 1945 and 1946 as a military policeman. After his honorable discharge from the service he returned to the Nyssa area and worked on a cattle ranch south of Harper as a cowboy.

On September 26, 1948 he married Leola Naomi Harris. Delbert worked for Standard Oil until retirement. He also served on Nyssa’s Volunteer Fire Department as fire chief for 19 years with a total of 30 years service on the fire department.

His passion was the outdoors, especially the desert where he spent many happy hours hunting for rocks. He collected stamps and Indian artifacts. Delbert was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and camper.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one nephew. Delbert leaves behind a loving family; his son, Jim Malloy (Becky) of Nampa, two sisters—Vivian Bowns of Nyssa, Neva Coburn of Middleton, 4 grandchildren—Angela (Josh) Johnson of Boise, Meghan (Andy) Slupe of Coralville Iowa, Katherine Malloy of Boise, and Sean Malloy of New Meadows, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1:00PM at the Nyssa Lienkaemper Chapel with Interment to follow at the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery, Nyssa. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to the family www.lienkaemper-thomason.com
