Josephine “Jo” Woodland Thomason, Cambridge, Idaho, passed away on February 26, 2010, at a Boise hospital. Jo was born to Calvin E. and Nellie A. Hindman Woodland on the family homestead near Weiser, Idaho. She graduated from Weiser High School and later received her teaching certificate from the college of Idaho. Her first teaching job was at the Monroe Creek School near Weiser. She continued teaching school full time for over forty years. Most of the time was spent teaching 2nd grade at the Cambridge Elementary School. She was married to Lloyd F. Thomason on July 21, 1942 in McCall, Idaho. The couple settled near Cambridge where they operated a cattle and sheep ranch throughout their lives. She and Lloyd were avid dancers, including square and round dancing. They developed many cherished friendships as they traveled throughout the region attending dances. Jo continued to live on the ranch following Lloyd’s death in 1987. She enjoyed the independent Idaho ranch lifestyle until the very end of her life. Jo is survived by her sister, Ruby Robinson of Nampa, Idaho; 4 nephews, Rod (Jessie) and their daughter, Charleeann Woodland, Cambridge, James (Lola) Booth, Nampa, David (Carmen) Booth, Dayton, Ohio, Robert (Val) Thomason, Weiser, and a niece, Debra (Randy) Thomason Reed, Mesa, AZ. She is also survived by several loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and her special canine companion, Fred. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Woodland and a sister, Dorothy Booth. The family members suggest that memorials be made in her name to the Cambridge Ambulance Fund, c/o Kris Jaeger, 2787 Salubria Rd., Cambridge, Idaho 83610, or to a favorite charity. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser. Private interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser.
